How phone minutes work

  • A phone minute is any minute a caller is connected to your number, listening to your pitch or leaving you a message.
  • Phone minutes reset each month, including on yearly plans. Unused minutes don't roll over.
  • If phone minutes run out, callers hear a short message instead of your pitch. Listens by QR code and link keep working.

Frequently asked questions

Plans, phone minutes and billing.

Illustration of three people with question marks
What counts as a phone minute?

Phone minutes measure time on calls to your TinyPitch number. A minute is counted whenever a caller is connected, whether they are listening to your pitch or leaving you a message.

Listens through your QR code or link never use phone minutes. Each plan includes a monthly allowance: 1,000 minutes on Starter, 2,000 on Growth and 4,000 on Pro.

What happens if we run out of phone minutes?

Callers hear a short message instead of your pitch until more minutes are added. Your QR code and link keep playing your pitch as normal.

You can add a top-up at any time: $10 for 500 minutes or $25 for 1,500 minutes. You can also turn on auto top-up, which adds minutes automatically when you run low. If you regularly need more minutes, a larger plan usually costs less per minute than top-ups.

Do unused minutes roll over?

No. Your plan's phone minutes reset at the start of each billing month, including on yearly plans, and unused minutes don't carry over to the next month.

If you expect a busy stretch, such as a year-end appeal or a book launch, add a top-up for that period or move to a larger plan.

Can we change our pitch after we've printed the number and QR code?

Yes. Your phone number, QR code and link always point to your pitch, not to one particular recording. Record a new version whenever you like, and publish it when you're happy with it.

Until you publish, listeners keep hearing the current version. Once you publish, every number, QR code and link plays the new one. Nothing you've already printed needs to change.

Who can record a pitch, and how?

You can record in your web browser on a computer or phone, or by calling your TinyPitch number. You can also invite other people to record, for example your executive director or a board member, and they can record by phone without creating an account.

Every recording is saved as a draft. It only goes live when someone on your team publishes it, so a recording never reaches listeners by accident.

Can callers leave a message?

Yes. After your pitch, callers can leave a voice message. Messages appear in your account with the caller's phone number, so you can listen and follow up.

Leaving a message uses phone minutes in the same way as listening does.

Do listeners need an app or an account?

No. Callers simply dial the number. People who scan the QR code or click the link hear your pitch in their phone's web browser, with nothing to install and no account to create.
